Many issues involving late adulthood in relation to modern time had been driven out. You may say that it’s not a common thing to converse with- what’s the big deal? Yeah, but consider this: our grandfathers and grandmothers are part of this big community.
From infancy to adolescent to late adulthood stage, we undergo a lot of changes. Now spew all your favorite theories about Freud, Erickson, personality, behavior, you name it.. It’s true as you know. The only thing that is certain in this world is change.
As grown- ups in the changing world, how are we able to adjust? Not only have our days become longer but life per se seems to move faster- once again facilitated by technology. We’re getting the hang of maximizing the space in the planet. From horse- drawn carriage to fast cars, bullet trains and jet airplanes. From bulky analogs, we made wee cellphones. From typewriters and conventional mail to computers, fax machines and e-mail.

Contrary to popular belief, the use of [these] modern technologies is not just for the young age.Have you seen the Bayan DSL Lola Techie commercial? It shows a pleasant (yet strict-looking) lola (grandmother). One thing is certain, though, after communicating with her grandson JR via webcam, there’s truth- and oh, most evidently- in the rumor that she is no doubt one of the techie lolas in the world. Mind you, she’s using facebook. She even knows how to poke in Facebook.
Even my grandmother, Auntie Fely in New York is updated too in the cyber world. We kept communicating through Geni and yahoo messenger. Especially when I have something to asked. *grin. And oh, one more thing, she finally got her iphone to work. She’s back to texting and filling up her 3G with more photos and videos of her apo (grand daughter), Thea. A techie lola, indeed.

It therefore, isn’t a big surprise that despite the fact of their old age- perhaps some of them… but not all of them- they also enamored, enthralled, enraptured by the marvel of modern technologies. They could wax rhapsodic on its merits and sheer beauty for hours. Let’s not forget that we created equal, not just in the level of gender and race but (more importantly) by intellect- and age is, is but a number progressing with inevitabilIty. Yes, age doesn’t matter.
