Ego-drive: To Deserve a Grand Life!

Ego-Drive

Ego-drive should be a watchword of every individual in whatever they do—be it in business, sports, education or any other facet of life. HR dictionary (dot) com defines ego-drive as a person’s ambition or motivation to succeed. Ego-drive is thus an important factor that determines the extent of one’s successes and gratification.

It entails a lot of commitment and diligence for a person to succeed on a chosen endeavor. Without these two qualities, one’s life would remain upside down. Studies have proven that commitment and diligence, coupled with motivation, bring about the achievement of one’s goals. Aside from that, motivation makes one feel confident and more satisfied.

But why should we be motivated? Why should we be committed and diligent? To answer these questions, everybody should realize that we must have done something great to deserve such a grand life!

GOD and Ego-Drive

My super ego speaks, “Hey, why are you so engrossed with ego-drive?” My id replies, “Well, I like to talk about things that block my sanity and ego-drive is one of them. Believe me.”

I once read about a girl who graduated cum laude from a prestigious school but couldn’t even land a job. Urgh!!! That’s a sad fact! She did not use ego-drive.

In Jeremiah 29:11, The Lord said, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and future. I will never leave nor forsake you.” Thus, we may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” (Hebrews 13:5,6).

These statements really inspired me. It would not mean that lucky are those who are studying in a known school, or those who graduated with flying colors. It doesn’t imply that “Lucky are those who find themselves seated on a silver chair and woe to those who are doomed to life’s gruesome realities such as poverty and misfortunes…” As stated earlier, it takes a lot of determination and patience to succeed. It’s the survival of the fittest so a great deal of motivation is also required—ego-drive it is.

Ego-Drive on a Personal Note

Back in college, I fared well in class ‘cause I wanted to get the best out of the expenses that my parents and uncle were paying. Some kept on telling me that I should never surrender and instead, keep my Faith no matter what life may offer. I landed on the dean’s list, but only until my 2nd year in college; I wasn’t qualified on my 3rd year. I found myself at the bottom of the ladder.

But it did not stop me from believing. I persisted. I knew then that if I did not take the opportunity, that if I didn’t have the guts, and that if I didn’t have the attitude to overcome and conquer; I would wrestle later on with the “what ifs,” “I should haves,” & the “I guess it’s my destiny to suffer and to settle with the least,” syndrome. I learned that we should fail failure. The determination to move on should be constant for we are blessedly endowed with GOD (the Gift of Decision).

I really consider myself hardworking and determined because I want to accomplish my many aspirations in life. Days may pass, I may stumble and fall; but the determination to move on continues. As we go along, we should open our hearts and minds to all directions that life may offer. There are roads that are full of trials and hardships and there are roads that give us a clear picture of success and life’s fulfillment.

As Kris Allen, American Idol Season 8 winner, would say:

Every second counts on a clock that’s ticking

Gotta’ live like we’re dying…

—From the song, Live Like We’re Dying

Whatever roads we are taking today, never surrender! Keep your Faith no matter what life may offer. Do the best!

Carpe Diem. ©

    Hey Richard!

Welcome back to the blogosphere! Congratulations on your new career!

This is a very inspiring post you have here. Most people rely too much on prayer that they tend to forget that they have to move in order to achieve whatever it is they want to accomplish. Definitely, GOD will make a way and keep us strong in our endeavors, but we still have to do something, to exert effort.

    Thanks very much for sharing!

P.S.: I'm okay for a favor, but I didn't really understand what it was you were asking. Pardon, please? :D

    Cheers!

    Hello, Rogue!

Thank you! Yeah, a new career out from my course. :)

Thanks for the compliment (as I should say). You're right! As the popular Filipino saying goes, “Nasa Diyos ang Awa, Nasa Tao ang Gawa.”

    You're very much welcome!

    P.S.: I just sent you an e-mail….

    Cheers!!!

    Hey Richard!

I emailed my edit yesterday, I hope you received it. If not, just give me a heads-up.

And regarding your comment on my latest post, I didn't mean it like that. It was actually more on my distaste for the “Like and Reblog” feature and besides, I didn't make my “Reprisal” post private. You did ask permission naman, right? :D Is that the reason it you took down on “Oxyboi?”

    Now, I feel guilty.

    Cheers!
